The competition entry ‘Brooklyn’ brings a fresh breeze of a clear and composed architecture ensemble to the complex cityscape of Tikkurila downtown. Architecture of the city-block is modest and well balanced yet delicate and even decorative in some details. Graduated massing of housing lamellas is situated along the edge of building site in respect of surrounding city structure, while creating a well-protected and cozy courtyard for the new residents. Southeast corner of the building site is occupied by playfully arranged tower buildings to allow a nearby park gradually continue into courtyard. The clever combination of two typologies bring out the best possible qualities of the building plot and provides additional unobstructed park views for many more happy dwellers of the ‘Brooklyn’ residence.
